Let Them Come for PC, iOS and etc. is a shoot'em up game developed by an independent studio, Tuatara Games. Let Them Come came out thanks to Versus Evil – a company popular mainly for The Banner Saga, Armikrog or the well-received Guild of Dungeoneering.
Plot
Let Them Come does not focus on the plot. When the aggressive Aliens invade the planet Earth, Rock Gunnar (a fearless mercenary that has gone through many battles) becomes humanity's last hope. Assuming the role of this character, the player has to stop the invaders from space.
Mechanics
Let Them Come for PC, iOS and etc. is played from a side view. Eliminating crowds of adversaries approaching from the right side of the screen constitutes the core of the experience; the protagonist is located on the left and he uses a heavy machine gun. The player fights both smaller enemies and overgrown bosses with more attack power and damage resistance. Eliminating the enemies earns the player points, which can be spent on special modifications offering the protagonist an upper hand on the battlefield.
The aforementioned heavy machine gun is Gunnar's primary weapon, though the protagonist also makes use of grenades, Molotov coctails, mines, flares and even a blackhole generator. Apart from that, Rock uses melee weapons, such as knives, sticks, stun guns or chainsaws. What constitutes the complementation of those, are different kinds of ammunition for the weapons mentioned above (differing in terms of additional effects, such as electrocution, freezing or igniting), as well as unlockable upgrades, such as improved rate of fire (machine gun), bonus health points or additional armor.
Technical aspects
Let Them Come for PC, iOS and etc. comes with two-dimensional visuals presented in a pixel-art style bringing 16-bit classics into mind. A dynamic soundtrack accompanies the experience – the tracklist can be both extended through unlocking new tracks alongside progression and customized accoring to one's preferences. It also has to be added that the game has been fully integrated with the Twitch service – this allowed the creators to implement an original mechanism thanks to which, the viewers can send adversaries of their choice after the player who is streaming their gameplay (this is done through typing-in adequate commands).
