Neon Chrome Description
Neon Chrome is a cyberpunk shooter for PC, PS4 and etc. developed by 10tons, the creators of Crimsonland, among other games.
Story
The action of Neon Chrome takes place in the near future. The players assume the role of an augmented mercenary whose task is to kill the Overseer of a grand skyscraper belonging to one of the most powerful corporations in the world.
That's it in terms of the plot in Neon Chrome, because the game focuses solely on gameplay. All maps and challenges are randomly generated, making each playthrough different.
Gameplay
Gameplay-wise, the developers of Neon Chrome drew inspirations from oldschool shooters. We observe the action from a camera placed high above the protagonist’s head, while our primary task is to annihilate hordes of various enemies, both humans and robots, with all kinds of firearms. The player has the ability to aim freely, independently of the character’s movement direction. Moreover, the game’s environment is fully destructible. As befits a roguelike production, every death is permanent and forces us to start from scratch with a completely different set of levels.
At the beginning of Neon Chrome, we choose one of three randomly generated characters which possess different skills. Furthermore, as we progress, we regularly visit a parts bank where we can buy various augmentations that not only increase our combat ability, but also develop skills in our specific specialization, such as a killer or cybernetic psychopath.
Neon Chrome offers single player as well as a cooperative mode. In case of the latter, up to four players can team up against the AI. The difficulty level is adjusted accordingly so the game does not become too easy.
