Learning Factory was developed by Luden.io, a studio that has already created other games combining fun with education regardless of age, such as while True: learn(). This time the developers focused on learning the process automation by expanding the Martian factory and creating efficient production chains.

Plot

We have the opportunity to take on the role of a scientific genius obsessed with cats, who decides to restore an old factory on Mars. All because the man has one goal: to be able to fully understand cats. To do this, he must create the perfect feline simulation, and this requires collecting around a million data and samples from these fluffy creatures. And if we succeed in this, there is nothing stopping us from employing cats in the form of scientists and coming up with much more complex projects.

Mechanics

Learning Factory mixes strategy, economic management game with puzzle elements and an extensive educational layer, in which we can understand the mechanisms behind automation and engineering. We have to expand the factory and put up more and more fancy buildings and make sure that they are connected by efficient production chains, so that without our interference the process continues uninterrupted. In this way we produce a variety of goods which we can then sell, adjusting the price to interested customers. In addition, we analyse the data collected from the cats to achieve our life's goal, and then we construct buildings dedicated more and more to the feline cause, like machines to make cat food, cat houses, sleeping pillows, balls of wool or cardboard boxes.

And while the game seems primarily a cat lover's paradise, it's also designed to impart knowledge about the schemes of automation. That is why in the game, apart from the tasks, which play the role of exercises teaching us progressively more difficult processes, we will find an encyclopaedia with terms and links to video materials expanding our knowledge.

Technical aspects

Learning Factory is a 3D game with a cartoon graphic design, with a day and night cycle, in which most of the game elements refer to cats and their preferences.
