A science-fiction turn-based 4X strategy game created by Auroch Digital. Last Days of Old Earth concentrates on a vision of future, when the Sun began to dim and a substantial part of the Earth froze over, forcing the remainders of humanity to travel to relatively warm areas near the equator. What is even worse however, is that a faction of hostile robots called the Automata appeared on the surface of the planet.

Last Days of Old Earth for PC is a science-fiction turn-based 4X strategy game developed by Auroch Digital - a studio popular for the well-received Chainsaw Warrior series.

Plot

The game is set in distant future, when the Sun began to dim. This led to the majority of the Earth getting frozen. Survivors were forced to travel to the areas near the equator, where the temperature was still sufficiently high for survival. If this was not enough however, a faction of hostile robots known as Automata made their presence on the planet. It was created by a long-extinct alien civilization for unknown purposes.

Mechanics

In Last Days of Old Earth for PC, the player is free to pick a side - one can assume the leadership of the robots or the humans remaining. Each of these two factions is entirely different, offering different strategies, units, buildings and technologies. The goal of both the humans and the robots however, is to eradicate the opposition by making a good use of the Earth's remaining resources.

As a 4X strategy game, Last Days of Old Earth requires the player to gather resources, build cities, conduct research and train the army, which is used against the enemy afterwards. Each side of the conflict has 30 kinds of units at their disposal. During the battles, using the shape of terrain to one's advantage is of high importance. For instance, climbing a mountain increases the range of sight; entering the woods makes it harder for the enemy to detect the player's forces.

Characters gifted with unique powers influence the course of the battle to a large extent - the game offers twenty-four of them in total. Furthermore, the gameplay is diversified with a set of over sixty abilities that can be used both by the said heroes and regular units. All of this is available in the single-player skirmish mode or in the multiplayer variant. Last Days of Old Earth offers a story campaign as well.
