Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos PC

The wicked and insidious witch Scotia had long wanted to destroy the lovingly reigning King Richard and seize the fortress in Gladstone. However, while her actions so far have not brought the desired effect, now finally the opportunity has come to immerse the ruler of the fantastic land forever. And all this thanks to the magical ring, which enabled transformation into any being and which was found by the witch after many years of searching. Seeing the imminent danger, King Richard decides to find a courageous man ready to fight Scotland and able to stand up to its evil deeds. As you can easily guess, you are it.

Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos is another RPG game created by Westwood Studios after two editions of Eye of the Beholder. Earlier experience has paid off, making this product one of the best role-playing programs of the first half of the nineties.

The player chooses from among the four characters prepared earlier, without having any influence on their coefficients. Ak'shel is a magical sorcerer, Michael is the best warrior in Gladstone and Kieran is a master of evils. The last character, Conrad, combines all the above features, becoming a universal hero. Will he be the best placed to fight Scotland? You will have to find out about it on your own skin.

Initially, our hero will travel alone, but the first visit to the tavern will result in the addition of another daredevil, which will significantly help in the fight against a horde of different creatures, densely populated areas of the whole kingdom. As in other programs of this type, player-guided characters gain experience, collect items and use them for further struggle. We observe the action from the perspective of the first person, using the movement system, which appeared, among others, in the famous Dungeon Master or the Eye of the Beholder series.

The game is accompanied by a wonderful audiovisual setting with refined graphics and atmospheric music. During the intra we can also hear spoken dialogues (there are more of them in the CD version, which was released shortly after the floppy disk edition). Both the next territories and the monsters you meet are made with great attention to detail and should appeal to all lovers of magic and sword. The demanding scenario and combat, ease of use, great automapping and a large number of different locations make Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos an almost exemplary product, both in terms of playability and quality of workmanship.
