Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society is a Japanese dungeon crawler RPG, a sequel to 2016's Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk. Both games were developed by Nippon Ichi studio, also known for the Disgaea series.

Plot

Players take on the role of a wandering ghost who is summoned to a magical land by a witch known as Madame Marta. We are given the task by her to loot the newly discovered great dungeons supposed to contain an artifact of great power. Accompanying us on the expedition are Marta's assistant, Eureka, and an army of battle marionettes possessed by the souls of the dead.

Game mechanics

Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society is a dungeon crawler RPG that refers to the old traditions of the genre. The events are observed from a first-person perspective, movement is done in a jumping manner, and the player can only turn 90 degrees. We explore dungeons, avoid traps, collect treasures and fight a variety of enemies.

Exploration takes place in real time, while battles are played in a turn-based system. Our character is defenseless, so we use puppets in clashes. There are 40 of them in the game and each has its own personality and unique abilities and talents, which we can develop as we progress through the game.

Game modes

The game has only a single-player mode sufficient for about 50 hours of play.

Technical aspects

Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society features a simple, but pleasing to the eye graphics. Character and enemy silhouettes are 2D and made in a style typical of Japanese cartoons. Locations, on the other hand, are 3D, but developed in such a way as to match 2D elements.
