The second part of the series of FPP adventure games with survival elements from Parabole studio. In Kona II: Brume we again find ourselves in northern Canada, where another puzzle awaits Carl Faubert to solve.
Kona II: Brume is the second installment of a series of adventure games with survival elements, launched in 2017. The game was developed by indie studio Parabole, and was published by Ravenscourt.
Plot
As was the case with the first part of the series, Kona II: Brume takes us to the northern regions of the Canadian province of Quebec in 1970. The title takes us on a journey to the fictional Manastan, where we end up as a private detective known from the original - Carl Faubert. The protagonist finds himself in a mining village, cut off from the rest of the world by a mysterious fog known as brume. Faubert's task is to discover the source of the mysterious phenomenon.
The gameplay is accompanied by an omniscient narrator who narrates the events in which we take part. In addition, the plot is conveyed through conversations and notes and objects found along the way.
Game mechanics
In Kona II: Brume we view the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). The production puts at our disposal a vast area, which we can freely explore. We move around Manastan on foot or with the help of a dog sled. Wandering through frosty wastelands, the interiors of forest huts and other locations, we look for clues that bring us closer to the realization of our main goal; we can get acquainted with all the information by browsing Faubert's journal. In addition, during the course of the game we get to know the residents of the area, rescue survivors of the devastating avalanche, and find the corpses of those who were not so lucky. In the game there is also a place for survivalist elements - in addition to the frosty turmoil, the danger for the protagonist are, among others, predators prowling in the wilderness.
Technical aspects
The graphics in Kona II: Brume look quite average. Nevertheless, the atmospheric locations shrouded in fog may appeal.
