Kitaria Fables is a debut game from Twin Hearts studio and brings to mind such titles as Stardew Valley and My Time at Portia. It is a mix of action RPG and a farm simulator. The game takes us to the fantasy land of Canoider, which is inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. The country was attacked by the forces of darkness and it is the hero's job to stop them.
Plot
The land of Canoidera was attacked by the forces of darkness. The Emperor has appointed us as the person to investigate and stop the darkness. For this purpose, we go to a small Paw Village, plagued by enemy creatures. There we live in our uncle's old cottage and explore the area in order to find the source of evil.
Mechanics
Kitaria Fables is a mix of action RPG and farm simulator. As in other titles of this type, the game is divided into two phases: exploring and taking care of our farm as a base.
Exploration comes down to exploring the area, getting into dangerous places, and fighting monsters. The game leaves the player the freedom to choose the right way to kill his enemies. The game does not have the traditional class system, and we can at any time sew to our enemies with a bow, stun them with magic or chop with a sword. We do not have to rely only on our own strength. The land is also inhabited by other more or less friendly characters. An important element of the game is to make friends with the inhabitants of the village and its surroundings and to perform tasks for them, because it can be very profitable. During these activities, we will come across various useful objects and resources that will be useful for our work on the farm.
Our uncle's cottage is the player's starting point. Here we plant plants, create new items and potions. The game balances the element of management and combat, because in order to be able to explore, you first need to prepare the supplies and create the right weapon for you.
Game modes
The game offers mainly single-player gameplay, but can be played by two people in cooperation mode.
Technical aspects
Kitaria Fables is characterized by a fairy-tale visual setting, kept in warm pastel colours.

Kitaria Fables is a decent farming life sim sadly hampered by its poor RPG elements

When Kitaria Fables works it works really well. But when its issues begin to arise, the experience of playing through it can get awfully frustrating. These unnecessary design oversights detract from the game's clear strengths. Regardless, it isn't bad, and given its relatively cheap retail price, it is probably worth giving a shot.

I absolutely adore everything about this game. If you’re a fan of games like Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley and Rune Factory, you’ll definitely like this title. It has a decent balance of farming and adventure, a solid story and the most adorable characters you will ever see. Since the game is pretty open, you can really go at your own pace, you don’t have to do any of the story quests right away if you feel like opting towards farming and gathering instead. Or if you think you can get away with a limited income, you can mostly forgo the farming and head straight into the adventure! Overall, Kitaria Fables is a wholesome and relaxed time.
