Kingsport Festival, released on AND and iOS, is a mobile board game inspired by the work of horror master Howard Phillips Lovecraft. The title was developed by Enigma studio.
Plot
Kingsport Festival is an adaptation of a table board game under the same title. Both the paper version and the mobile version take full advantage of the short story of The Festival, published in the Weird Tales magazine in January 1925. It was one of the first stories belonging to the Cthulhu mythos. The plot of the game revolves around a secret ritual organized in the port city of Kingsport every hundred years. During it, the wanderers are summoned to take part in a ritual that will summon cosmic nightmares living in the distant darkness of star emptiness.
Mechanics
Kingsport Festival offers a rare opportunity to play as a villain. Players control the leader of one of the vile cults. Their task is to collect spells and valuable items, and then use them to conquer the city of Kingsport and defeat competing organizations.
While playing, players can summon cosmic nightmares to help them achieve their ambitions and provide them with access to magical gifts. The use of old books to cast dangerous spells also plays a key role. At the same time, players must be careful not to lose their senses, because each contact with alien entities will bring them closer and closer to madness. Besides, players must be aware of the forces of goodness in the form of human investigators who won't rest until our plans are thwarted.
