Continuation of the great adventure game King's Quest, which set the course for the further development of adventure games for home computers. We play the role of Graham, king of Daventry. One day, sitting eminently on the royal throne, he saw in the mirror a vision of a beautiful princess trapped in a glass tower. The game tells the story of his expedition to liberate the girlfriend.
King's Quest II: Romancing The Throne Description
King's Quest II: Romancing The Throne is a sequel to King's Quest: Quest for the Crown, an adventure game that set the development path for all PC games in the genre. In Romancing the Throne, we assume the role of Graham, who became the king of Daventra after Edward’s death. One day, sitting majestically in his throne, Graham spotted a vision of a beautiful princess in a mirror. Since she was imprisoned in the tower of glass, the king immediately set out to find the woman. Thus begins our adventure.
We have to find three magic keys that together open the gate to the tower. To do that, we will visit a desert inhabited by nomads, underwater empire, and even vampire-infested castle.
The game’s mechanics were not significantly modified in comparison to the first part. We still control the protagonist with cursor keys and type in all commands manually. The puzzles also remain similar, though this time the game takes more than a few hours to complete. The water kingdom, full of various chambers, is especially memorable.
King's Quest II: Romancing The Throne is still powered by an engine that supports only 16-color palette. Luckily, the area design still presents great attention to details and is pleasurable to look at.
