Kind Words 2 is a sequel to Kind Words - a warmly received game by Popcannibal, awarded with a BAFTA. Like the first game, it's rather experimental, most similar mechanically to a simulation game. Players don't create any characters but rather embody themselves sharing their thoughts and kind words with other players. This makes the game a safe haven of sorts for those seeking understanding and respite from everyday life.

Mechanics

Though the game can be defined as a third-person simulation game, it's more of a social space created by people who wanted to share their thoughts and support other users. It's also a more extensive version of the first game, mostly based on writing and sending each other encouraging letters.

The sequel still allows for complex correspondence, letting players share their worries, recommend each other music, movies and exchange life tips.

The world of Kind Words 2 is more than just a small room - the player can go outside at any time to say hello to their neighbors. Players can talk to each other using available, freely modifiable dialogue options.

The game also includes poetry slams, during which participants go on stage to present their poetry to the audience. Players can also make wishes (for health, love, money and more) to scattered stars. All the player has to do is to head to a designated area and choose the Make a Wish option.

The game only supports multiplayer.

Technical aspects

Kind Words 2 features simple, yet appealing visuals and a delicate, pastel color palette. The lo-fi soundtrack is very relaxing. Players can customize their avatar, choosing skin color, hair and clothing.

This title also includes a remastered version of the first Kind Words, with more refined rooms and an improved interface. If you've played the first game, all your old lists and likes will be transferred over to the sequel.
