Inward Description
Inward is an experimental game, difficult to classify genre-wise. It was created by an indie developer, Krish Shrikumar.
Mechanics
The main objective of Inward is reinforcing mindfulness within players and convincing them to work on improving their well-being. The game lets us keep a journal (where we write down our thoughts and experiences), build our own Sanctuary where we can rest and relax, and meditate with a guide (the sessions' length can be adjusted to our needs and preferences).
When creating the Sanctuary, the player can choose its theme, type and color of floor and decor, such as flowers, rocks, lanterns, paths, northern lights high up in the sky and wandering animals. Players can also create their own tree species by choosing trunks, branches and leaves, naming them and sharing them with other players. By building daily habits, we unlock further cosmetics to personalize the Sanctuary with.
Technical aspects
Inward features colorful, appealing visuals and a warm color palette. The game's calming soundtrack helps with practicing mindfulness and meditation.
