Jetpack Fighters, available on AND and iOS, is a platformer released in a free-to-play model with microtransactions. It was developed by Hi-Rez Studios, known for such PC productions as Smite, Tribes: Ascend or Global Agenda.
Plot
Jetpack Fighters has a very simplistic storyline. The action takes place in an undefined future and tells the story of an attack on Mega City by an army of robots constructed by a crazy scientist. We play as warriors equipped with jetpacks, and our goal is to try to stop the invasion.
Mechanics
Jetpack Fighters, released on AND and iOS, is a platformer with 3D graphics, but the gameplay mechanisms are fully two-dimensional. Our task is to explore maps, collect items, overcome obstacles and fight enemies. All this is done using a simple control system, in which drawing a line with a finger on the screen causes the character to shoot in the desired direction. We use these controls to both move around the world and use attacks. Occasional skirmishes with bosses add variety to the game.
The player starts the game with one character, but then in exchange for the accumulated gold can unlock a large set of additional heroes. Each of them has unique features and special skills. In addition to this, there is a system for collecting and upgrading weapons, which allows you to adjust the types of attacks to your own fighting style. You can replay missions multiple times. Additionally, the game rewards achievements such as eliminating all opponents on the map or getting all items.
