Ittle Dew 2+ is a special version of Ittle Dew 2, which was released in 2016 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The Nintendo Switch edition is practically the same as the original, although Ludosity slightly expanded its contents and eliminated the known bugs. Naturally, the game utilizes the features of the Nintendo’s console and lets us play both in stationary mode, with increased resolution, as well as mobile one in 720p. Similarly to the original, the production was published by Nicalis, a company known for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Cave Story, and Grinsia.
Plot
In Ittle Dew 2+, we learn of the further adventures of Ittle and her companion, Tippsy, who are crashed on another island that is full of secrets and bizarre creatures. With the use of a magical map, we have to find eight fragments of a raft that will let us escape the place.
Mechanics
The title combines elements of adventure and arcade games. On one hand, Ittle Dew 2+ puts emphasis on action and combat – while fighting, we can dodge blows by running and rolling on the ground and attack in the right moment. On the other, sometimes we have to solve a logic puzzle to move forward. Oftentimes, they require us to find the adequate item and place it in the right spot. The above is complemented by the possibility of enhancing things. During the adventure, we’ll visit a beach, run through a meadow, and look inside a basement, among other places. What’s interesting, seven out of the total of eight levels can be accessed right away so it is only up to us where we will go first.
Technical aspects
Ittle Dew 2+ for SWITCH, similarly to the first installment of the series, features a colorful comic style, while the action is observed from an isometric camera placed above the level. The title also offers a varied soundtrack that conveys the atmosphere of each location.
