Inazuma Eleven 2: Firestorm and Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard appeared in Japan in 2009. After a few years they were translated and published in Europe and the United States. The title develops ideas from an original production from 2008 and combines elements of RPG, known from the Pokemon series for example, with arcade football.

The main hero of the game is the talented goalkeeper Mark Evans, who defends the colorful school team of Raimon Junior High School. He once won the prestigious Football Frontier tournament with her. One day the institution is attacked by a mysterious Alius Academy, whose representatives decided to use football games to destroy all schools in Japan. Mark and his friends decide to stop them. To this end, he sets off on a nationwide expedition to find the best players and build a team able to play the game of the eleven Alius Academy. The story is presented in the form of numerous dialogues and animations showing the most important events.

Moving around the Land of the Cherry Blossom reminds us of a tour of the world from the Pokemon series. As in that game, we visit other cities, but instead of creatures we collect players for our team. We also fight against teams from other schools to get useful items or to convince their players to join our club. The matches are played in a very arcade form and quite loosely adhere to the rules of real football. The players have special abilities, which means that during the game there is no shortage of super-shots, fast sprints and other unrealistic actions. Controlling is done with the help of a stylus by indicating the direction of the character's course and selecting available commands.

The creators have prepared several hundred players who can be recruited, including 150 for Firestorm and Blizzard versions only. Players can also play with a live opponent using a Wi-Fi connection. It is also possible to transfer players between console users.
