The Emperor is another, after the excellent Dark Age of Camelot, MMOcRPG production prepared by Mythic Entertainment. The action of the game was set in the realities of science fiction, in the alternative world of the future, where the Roman Empire never collapsed, and on the contrary, it is one of the Earthly powers, which took over and colonized many other planets. The game starts when the Republic is in crisis. The extension of the Empire's territory has weakened power and control over the country, and the whole Earth is threatened by a powerful enemy. We are talking about the Mayas, a nation known to us from the history of our civilization, which in the Emperor is the personification of evil. Rome was the leader of a coalition of earthly states that are trying to defend themselves against the Mayan aggression.
Like most MMOcRPG games, the main goal of the game is to develop your hero. Until now, this process has been carried out on a competitive basis in competitive products: "the 'skills to be acquired and developed'. (e.g. Asheron's Call and Saga of Ryzom) or a strictly chosen path of development by choosing a character class (EverQuest or Final Fantasy XI). The Emperor tried to apply the best features of both systems. Players can choose one of several ways to develop a hero, i.e. to develop a group of skills typical of a warrior, scout, or healer, but there is nothing to prevent him from learning some of the skills characteristic of another type of character. This solution gives a lot of room for individual players to show off and guarantees a large variety of targeted avatars.
We start the game as a Roman legionnaire undergoing training on a star cruiser, which in fact is the starting zone. After reaching the 10th level of experience, when we get to know the basic rules of the game, we move on to proper fun. Unlike Dark Age of Camelot, where one of its basic features was an excellent system of fighting between players, the Emperor is a title created for player-versus-environment gameplay. In practice, this means that the essence of this production are complex quests and exploration of the vast world, which is a mixture of various components from the classical history of Rome, architecture and art, with futuristic technology. However, it was given the possibility to conduct duels between players in special arenas (e.g. Colosseum).
The emperor was created using the three-dimensional NDL's GameBryo engine, the one we know from the Dark Age of Camelot. However, significant improvements and improvements in its capabilities have not been forgotten. SpeedTreeRT technology is also used in the game, allowing you to reproduce extremely natural-looking trees with rich leaves, additionally subject to all weather conditions (blowing wind or falling rain).
The game requires a monthly subscription fee.
