ILya Muromets for PC is a World-War I simulator devoted to the legendary Russian bomber plane ILya Muromets. The game was developed by 1C Game Company, in cooperation with the creators of the Rise of Flight series – the 777 studio. Experts from the Russian Military Historical Society were consulted in production of ILya Muromets. The game was originally meant to be a stand-alone product, but eventually, it was turned into an expansion pack for Rise of Flight.

The plane was constructed by a Russian engineer of Polish descent, Igor Sikorsky. As the first serially produced bomber in the history of aviation, the plane was a symbol of pride for the imperial army. The craft was named after a legendary Russian hero who lived at the turn of the thirteenth century. This wooden, four-engined biplane was produced in several versions from 1913 to 1924. The aircraft was equipped with 3 or 4 machine guns, and the team would comprise 5 members: two pilots, two mechanics, and a gunner. The machine was being used mainly during the First World War and the Polish-Soviet War. In the period following the war, the plane was also used for transporting passengers.

Mechanics & Game modes

The player will be flying the titular bomber here, but also a few other machines from the period – those were used by air forces of Russia, Germany and Austria-Hungary. Among them, one will find mainly the following models: Nieuport 11.C1 and 17.C1, SPAD 7.C1, Roland CIIa, DFW C.V, as well as Albatros DII and DIII. The action takes place above an area as large as 22,500 square kilometers, and most of that land represents the territories belonging to present-day Ukraine. The developer recreated the shape of terrain, buildings, roads and tracks with great precision, based on the original maps from 1920.
