I Am Future

Mechanics

The gameplay of I Am Future is shown from an isometric perspective. There are many duties we must fulfill throughout the game. We can start a garden on the rooftop of the building our protagonist woke up in, soon turning it into a self-sustaining farm. Cultivating the land and planting fruit and vegetables lets us feed ourselves; after crafting a fishing rod we can start diversifying our meals as well.

Speaking of crafting - throughout the game we find blueprints used for exactly this purpose; by gathering resources (which often isn't easy, requiring us to dismantle found objects and machines like microwaves, computers and cars) and using the blueprint we can create a new tool or a robot. The machines keep us company and help us with our work; we can also send them on expeditions to bring resources, blueprints and clues as to what happened in Cosmopolis.

Although they don't pose a mortal danger, the apocalypse gave rise to new species, such as mutated worms, which appear on our farm at night, destroying crops and electronics. We should, therefore, build defensive structures and other countermeasures in advance, as otherwise we'll need to sacrifice rest in favor of trying to save the fruit of our labor.

Game modes

In addition to its story campaign, I Am Future features a sandbox mode without preset objectives or restrictions.

The visuals of I Am Future are colorful, appealing and cartoonish.
