A top-down shooter in a science-fiction setting. The action of Hybrid Wars takes place in 2060, when wars between giant corporations are a constant occurrence on Earth. The player steps into the shoes of a mercenary, fighting for one of the sides of the conflict. We spend most of our time in the cockpits of powerful mechs, tanks and helicopters, destroying all who stand in our way.

Hybrid Wars for the PC is a top-down shooter realized in a science-fiction setting. The game has been developed by the Russian Extreme Developers studio, with the Wargaming team serving as the production’s publisher and aiding in its creation.

Plot

The action of Hybrid Wars for the PC takes place in the year 2060. The vision of the future presented by the developers is definitely not an optimistic one. Humanity stands upon the brink of another technological revolution, but our home planet constantly serves as the battlefield for great, powerful corporations, which use various gigantic machines to grind one another into the dirt. In our adventure we step into the shoes of a pilot of one of such machines.

Mechanics

In the PC release of Hybrid Wars the players take the role of one of the two mercenaries, who travel around the world in search of ways to earn money quickly. It is our task to conquer eight different war zones. Each of them is a giant area, with an open-world structure, designed in a way that allows us to approach our mission differently. There is a grand total of 150 quests awaiting completion.

In Hybrid Wars we experience the gameplay from a top-down perspective. The game has a striking resemblance to old-school shooters and we spend most of our time in the cockpits of numerous mechs, destroying everything that stands in our way. The title also features futuristic tanks and helicopters, the combat prowess of which we are free to test. The developers have prepared a wide range of enemies, among which we will find over 50 ordinary foes and 7 powerful bosses; additionally, the game has many destructible environment elements.

We can also modify and upgrade all of our machines, there are over 20 types of armaments and 28 special abilities. Furthermore, the players can summon weaker units onto the battlefield, which will directly aid them in the fight, amongst such units is the mini mech, which guards us similarly to a watchdog.

Game Modes

Hybrid Wars for the PC offers a single player campaign for approx. 15 hours; a co-op mode is also available.

Technical aspects

The PC release of Hybrid Wars features many elements that are similar to those of older productions, however, the visuals are certainly not one of them – the developers have prepared extremely detailed, 3D graphics, powered by the Unity engine.
