Brigador for PC is a roguelike action game played from an isometric view. The players control mechs, and their tasks are to defeat all the enemies and liberate the town where the action takes place. In terms of the visuals, the game refers to retro futuristic aesthetics of the 80s. When it comes to the mechanics, Brigador bears a resemblance to arcade titles, such as the classic Desert Strike or Renegade Ops. The game was created by Stellar Jockeys - an independent American developer.

Plot

The game is set in an unspecified period in the future, on the surface of a distant planet named Novo Solo. In the capital city - Solo Nobre, the Supreme Leader has passed away. Now, the time has come to liberate Solo Nobre, which is dominated by four rival factions. Regardless of losses suffered and damage caused, it has to be achieved during one night.

Mechanics

Brigador for PC is played from an isometric view. To begin, the player chooses their vehicle (among those, mainly walking mechs are available), pilot and weaponry. Then the player faces enemy factions on nine different maps, which represent particular districts of the capital city. The players encounter mechs, tanks and aircrafts. As befits a roguelike game, death is permanent here. Brigador does not feature a system of experience points - rather, progression is based on unlocking new vehicles or weaponry components helpful in subsequent approaches to the objective, that is, liberation of Solo Nobre. Although Brigador does not offer procedurally generated maps, both enemies and factions are randomly distributed each time a match is launched.

Technical aspects

At first glance, the visuals in Brigador for PC resemble science-fiction films and old-school games released in the late 80s and early 90s. Dark colors, neon lights and soundtrack composed using synthesizers are all a reference made to such classics as 1993's Syndicate (a strategy game) or Blade Runner (film).
