How to Survive: Third Person Standalone PC

A standalone expansion for the arcade game How to Survive. While the original presents the action in an isometric view, How to Survive Third Person Standalone, just like the title suggests, introduces a TPP mode. Other than the changed perspective, it is the same production.

How to Survive Third Person for PC is a standalone expansion for 2013’s How to Survive by EKO and a sort of response to the player community suggestions. It is nearly the exact identical production, however, contrary to the isometric original, the action is presented from the third-person perspective.

Plot

The game’s plot is the same as in the original How to Survive. As one of several castaways, we arrive at a small archipelago of four islands somewhere at the coast of Columbia. This place, seemingly calm and deserted, turns out to be home to bloodthirsty zombies that we will have to face using only items and weapons we find or make ourselves in the advanced crafting system.

Mechanics

The gameplay combines elements of action adventure game and RPG (quests and character development), putting emphasis on survival aspects. There are four heroes at the player’s disposal (three from the vanilla game and one released as a DLC) who are characterized by different skills which, to some extent, determines the course of the fun. To survive in the hostile environment, we will have to take care of water and food as well as rest regularly using shelters we find. Before that, however, we need to clear the nearest area of zombies. The day and night cycle is an important part of the gameplay and it influences, among others, the kinds of enemies we encounter.

How to Survive Third Person includes everything we could find in the original production of EKO Software: an open world consisting of 4 islands, a story mode, and eight demanding challenges with online player leaderboards. Moreover, the title is enriched with the contents of the Kovac’s Way DLC (which introduced, among other things, weather effects, new enemies, and a number of lesser fixes), an additional character and weapons from the Hello My Name is Nina DLC, a roguelike mode from the One Shoot Escape expansion, and several smaller novelties. The gameplay can be set to one of three difficulty levels.

Game modes

Contrary to the vanilla How to Survive for PC which put great emphasis on multiplayer, How to Survive Third Person doesn’t offer an online mode.
