Hotshot Racing is a dynamic, arcade racing game, which in terms of entertainment refers to classic productions like Virtua Racing, Crusin' USA or Daytona USA. The production offers an arcade driving model in order to give players the greatest possible excitement. The game was developed by Lucky Mountain Games and Sumo Digital. The publisher is Curve Digital.
Mechanics
At Hotshot Racing we can play as one of eight different drivers - Keiko, Xing, Mike, Alex, Aston, Toshiro, Marcus and Viktor. We sit behind the wheel of an extremely fast car and race with the other participants. Speed and skill of the player are crucial here (among other things, we have to master drifting and the use of rivals' aerodynamic to perfection).
The game offers several tracks, set in unique locations - there is a beach, jungle, mountains and desert areas of Los Angeles.
Game modes
We can play Hotshot Racing alone or with others. The game offers the opportunity to race against a computer or a live opponent - both via the Internet and locally, on a split screen (in the first case we can play with seven other people, and in the second with three).
Among the available game modes you will find the classic ones, such as Time Trials or Grand Prix, but also more original ones - e.g. Cops and Robbers and Drive or Explode (in the first one, we race with the police and after being caught, we join them, and in the second one, a bomb is mounted under each car - if we slow down, we blow up).
Technical aspects
Hotshot Racing offers quite original, three-dimensional graphic design, which refers to the racing games from the 90s. Car models are therefore not very detailed - they consist of clearly visible blocks. The graphics, however, are varied and colorful (locations vary greatly), and thanks to the retro style in single player modes, the game runs in 60 fps.
