Heroes & Castles 2 is a mixture of arcade and tower defense games, set in a classic fantasy land. Just like in the previous game, we play as a warrior who has to defend a keep besieged by an army of monsters. The controls are similar to those from a typical third-person action game. We can preform varied attacks, blocks, and use special abilities. Our hero is immortal, so when he is defeated by the enemy, he simply respawns at the castle.
Heroes & Castles 2 for iOS is a mixture of arcade and tower defense games developed by Foursaken Media, creators of the first game of the series.
The game takes place in a classic fantasly land. Like in the first Heroes & Castles, we play as a warrior who was given the task of defending the keep from an army of monsters.
Mechanics
Game’s controls are like in many other third-person action games. We can prefrom various attacks, block our enemies’ strikes with a shield, and use special abilities. Our hero is immortal so whenever he is defeated by the enemy, he simply respawns at the keep. Heroes & Castles 2 for iOS also has some strategic elements. We have to gather gold and spend it on upgrading (building higher walls or towers) or repairing our keep. We can also train specialized units that will aid us in battle.
In comparison with the first game, the scale of the battles has significantly increased. Moreover, we do not have to only protect our keep, now, we can also invade other territories and besige our enemies’ castles.
Some major changes were introduced to the combat system. There are new attacks and pieces of equipment available. Character progression skill tree now branches out into three main branches for each race/class.
Technical Aspects
Visuals in Heroes & Castles 2 for iOS are on a much higher level than in the pervious game. All models have more detail to them, but perhaps the biggest change can be seen in the dynamic lighting. Day/Night cycle and altering weather conditions were also implemented in the game and have serious impact on our battles.
