A strategic game loosely combining elements of tower defense, RPG, and MOBA. Hero Defense: Haunted Island is the first big project from developer Happy Tuesday. The player takes control of a team composed of five unique characters who are preparing to face the most powerful vampire in the world – Count Necrosis. Before they do that, they have to battle armies of creatures from hell on various arenas.

Hero Defense: Haunted Island published on PC is a strategic game intended to redefine the tower defence genre by combining it with classic RPG and MOBA elements. The title is the first big project of Happy Tuesday studio from Berlin.

Plot

You are in control of five unique characters who fight their way through different arenas in order to defeat the most powerful vampire of all times – Count Necrosis. However, before the heroes will get the chance of facing the archenemy, they have to wipe out a number of undead creatures from hell by slashing and tearing them apart.

Mechanics

Mechanics of Hero Defense: Haunted Island combines elements of MOBAs and tower defence games and is complemented with strong RPG accents, like rich character skill trees and equipment. Gameplay consists in quick and effective elimination of waves of opponents charging at you in a predefined manner. In contrast to classic tower defence games in which you usually use a variety of cannons and watchtowers, the title offers five heroes with different skills who can freely manoeuvre on arenas.

With the progress, you can erect different types of buildings, including special shrines empowering the heroes. As you collect treasures and magic runes, you can customise and modify elements of the weaponry by combining effects of different runes for extensive combos sequences. At the same time you gain experience points – each level unlocks new skills and spells from individual skill trees unique for every hero.

Game modes

Typically for classic MOBA games, Hero Defense: Haunted Island is most enjoyable in the multiplayer mode which gives players a chance of joining forces and to compete with each other during regular and ranked games. The production by Happy Tuesday also offers an extensive campaign for single player and daily challenges delivered by the developer.

Technical aspects

Hero Defense: Haunted Island for PC utilises colourful, full 3D graphics with fantasy feel. Visually, the production resembles famous MOBA – DOTA 2 and its prototype – Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.
