Continuation of Defense Grid: The Awakening - a popular tower defense strategy created in 2008 by Hidden Path Entertainment studio. The plot of the game continues the threads started in the predecessor and tells the story of the commander struggling with the next foreign forces. Just like in the first installment of the game, our actions are commented on by artificial intelligence, known as Fletcher.

Defense Grid 2 is a tower defense strategy game. The production was developed by Hidden Path Entertainment studio, the authors of the first part.

Defense Grid: The Awakening was the first title of its kind to introduce an extended storyline to the genre. The second part continues the tradition of the original. The game tells the story of the commander, in whom we played the original. It turns out that the alien forces he defeated were only a small part of a powerful army. Fletcher, the artificial intelligence that commented on our actions in the first part, returns in the campaign.

In the basic assumptions the game is a typical tower defense. Our task is therefore to build watchtowers and other defensive structures in order to repel further waves of enemies. Killing every opponent feeds our account with credits, which we spend on purchasing new buildings and upgrading existing ones. Defense Grid 2 offers an extensive single player campaign with twenty levels. Multiplayer mode is also available.

During the game we have to face new types of opponents, which were not in the first part of the game. In the fight against them we use both the already known defensive structures, as well as the previously absent types of turrets. The system of modification of structures has been significantly extended. In addition to the typical improvement of defensive objects, we also get the option of equipping them with additional subassemblies, allowing for greater specialization.

Defense Grid 2 uses a new graphical engine that not only provides nicer graphics, but also allows you to create larger and more complex maps. An additional attraction is the easy-to-use level editor.
