A three-dimensional adventure game funded via Kickstarter, and a debut production from the Irish studio BillyGoat Entertainment. Her Majesty’s Spiffing is a humorous story taking place in modern times. The Queen of Great Britain has decided to add new lands to the empire, but the modern times don’t allow a simple conquest of the neighboring countries anymore.
Her Majesty’s Spliffing is a 3D adventure game Kickstarted in 2014. The game, released for PS4, SWITCH and etc. was developed by BillyGoat Entertainment, a small Irish studio, for which Her Majesty… is the first bigger project.
Plot
The story of Her Majesty’s Spiffing has a rather humoristic shading. After the events of 2016, and the escalation of isolationist policy, The Queen of the United Kingdom has expressed the wish to join new lands to the empire. However, the current times doesn’t allow a simple conquest of the neighboring countries. As a result, the Queen has divided her attention to star systems, and created Special Planetary Investigative Force for Inhabiting New Galaxies, an organization which prepares for a first British manned space travel. The stakes are high – the Queen wants to create Galactic British Empire.
Mechanics
Her Majesty’s Spiffing was inspired by classic adventure games, which shouldn’t be a surprise, considering that the developers themselves told that they were inspired by games from Tim Shafer, Ron Gilbert, Gary Winnick, or Dave Grossman. As a result, the game mainly focuses around visiting new locations in search of items that are necessary to solve the encountered problems. Additionally, the plot of the game is pushed forward through dialogues elicited by the characters, while the players are going to have to solve a simple minigame from time to time.
Technical Aspects
The game is a light-hearted title, so the humoristic gameplay is complemented by funny, cartoonish visual style. The developers have done their homework, introducing varied and detailed sceneries and locations.

Impulsegamer: 3.9 / 5 by Sean Warhurst
You may have noticed that I didn’t delve into too much detail regarding the plot – In titles like this, where the main draw is the narrative itself, I personally feel it’s best to come in as fresh as possible. Having played through Her Majesty’s Spiffing twice now, I’ve found that, much like a lot of Telltale’s work, the game operates under the illusion of choice rather than your decisions actually impacting meaningfully upon the narrative.
Nindie Spotlight: 7.5 / 10 by Nindie Spotlight
Overall Her Majesty’s SPIFFING was a pleasant surprise, full of cracking humor and some suitably absurd puzzle-solving. It may feel a bit on the short side but given its price the length is fair and I would prefer it over too soon rather than overstaying its welcome. For people searching for a game that is light, not terribly demanding, and can just be enjoyed for quite a few hours it’s pretty easy to recommend.
Twinfinite: 4.5 / 5 by Jordan Oloman
The only problem with the game is that I wanted more of it. Her Majesty’s Spiffing will run you about four hours. Once you reach its end, the game is very clear with the player stating that ‘This story will continue… maybe… if we get enough sales’. Hopefully for the developers, quality of product will lead to quantity of sales, and the adventures of S.P.I.F.F.I.NG are able to continue on.
