Hello Sunshine is a post-apocalyptic RPG with survival elements , in which we follow a giant robot. An independent Norwegian studio, Red Thread Games, whose portfolio includes projects Dreamfall Chapters, Draugen and Dustborn, is behind the development of this production.
Gameplay
In Hello Sunshine, the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP).
Mechanical companion
The overarching gameplay element involves following a giant robot as it traverses the sandy desert, heading for a mysterious white tower looming on the horizon.
As the desert is murderously hot during the day, while nightfall draws a veil of icy cold, we must stay close to the machine; for it provides us with shade as the heat pours from the sky, as well as life-giving warmth when everything around us is frozen.
Searching for resources and crafting
However, we cannot follow the robot step by step. In order to find the resources necessary for survival, we have to regularly move away from it. We get food by hunting, while useful items await us in supply drops, warehouses, as well as in destroyed war machines, military stations and settlements, among other places.
The Sunshine Recycler, which is at our disposal, allows us to break down supplies into their first parts so that they can then be used to shore up our equipment, led by tools and weapons. As the deeper into the desert we venture, the more valuable rewards await us, the key to success is to find a r?balance between risk and safety.
Gradual development
As our relationship with the robot develops, it begins to provide more and more indispensable assistance, finding secrets for us, hovering over obstacles or protecting us from dangers. In addition to atmospheric conditions, we are also threatened by other machines, which our robot fights to protect us.
Over time, we upgrade the robot's sensors and defense and mechanical systems; we can also customize its appearance with stickers or paint. When, on the other hand, it becomes damaged, we have no choice but to make the necessary repairs.
The game doesn't end there, because as we progress, we also gain the ability to create auxiliary bots, allowing us to automate selected processes (such as mapping the terrain or collecting resources). In addition, by completing additional orders, we unlock vending machines, rest areas and self-service rooms that await us at Sunshine service stations, where our robot recharges at night.
Coop
Hello Sunshine allows you to play alone or in cooperative mode over the Internet.
The plot of
Hello Sun shine takes us to a post-apocalyptic universe, to be precise - to a world brought to the brink of total destruction by the actions of the titular Sunshine corporation. During the gameplay we play the role of the "last employee", who travels through the desert filled with automated systems, accompanied by a large robot, trying to reach the tower, where he will have to decide the fate of the surrounding reality.
