Gunhead Description
Gunhead is a first-person roguelike shooter by an indie studio Alientrap. It's the sequel to Cryptark, a 2017 shoot 'em up, released on PC.
Plot
Gunhead is set right after Cryptark. Once again we play as a space pirate, making a living by robbing alien ships. After the protagonist has betrayed their government clients, they must struggle to survive on their own.
Mechanics
Gunhead is a first-person game. As in Cryptark, the game is set on procedurally generated spaceships where we must gun down all enemies in our way - ranging from regular mooks, turrets, drones and powerful bosses.
As we progress further, we unlock more powerful weapons, such as rocket launchers, rifles, laser guns (we can take up to four weapons with us) and many useful gadgets. We also have a jetpack, used to reach normally inaccessible areas, which opens up many tactical possibilities.
Technical aspects
Despite their simplicity, the 3D visuals of Gunhead look rather nice due to the cel-shaded, comic book-like artstyle. The fast-paced soundtrack fits gameplay very well.
