Battle Shapers is a dynamic FPS with roguelike elements. It was developed by an independent studio Metric Empire.

Plot

Battle Shapers is set in New Elysium, a utopia on the brink of collapse due to the tyrannical reign of its Overlords. The game's protagonist is Ada, fighting her way through the Overlords' towers, scrapping hordes of security robots on her way to overthrow the tyrants.

Mechanics

The gameplay of Battle Shapers is shown from the first-person perspective (FPP). The player must make their way through different rooms, eliminating hordes of enemies using an extensive arsenal of weapons and a wide range of combat skills. Ada is adept at melee combat and wielding futuristic firearms; she can also set up various traps for the enemies. After making her way past an Overlord's security, she must then face them in a boss battle.

Progressing through the game rewards us with new abilities, upgrades and more powerful weapons. Slain Overlords leave behind Cores which significantly increase our combat effectiveness (and can be upgraded as well). All this lets us gradually face grander, bigger challenges.

Growing in strength is important, as other Overlords watch us closely and adapt their tactics to counter us. This means each successive tower is more difficult than the previous one. Though death is a growing possibility, if it happens, we keep our previously unlocked skills and weapons, making the next attempt much easier.
