Gryphon Knight Epic is a shoot'em up game developed by the independent team at Cyber Rhino Studios.
Story
In Gryphon Knight Epic the player is taken to a classic fantasy world. The main character is the title knight - Sir Oliver. It would seem that the hero has had already seen his years of splendor - because he managed to defeat the evil dragon and thus save the kingdom, for which the reward was to marry a beautiful princess. Unfortunately, the idyll had to end somne time - one day almost all of his former friends turned against him, posing a threat to the whole land. Only the griffin Aquila remained faithful to the protagonist, on whose back the character sets off on another journey full of dangers.
Mechanics
In Gryphon Knight Epic we watch the action from the side. The gameplay is based on a constant movement to the right through eight hand-designed stages and battles against enemies. The locations we visit are diverse - the list includes picturesque villages as well as coastal beaches, underwater depths or even ancient ruins. Regardless of where we are, we face hordes of opponents almost all the time. Various adversaries stand on our way, including humans and all kinds of monsters: from the giant Kraken and huge elephants to animated trees.
Our basic weapons are magical projectiles shot by our our winged companion. Over time, we get access to more powerful weapons, which we take from the defeated bosses (an example can be a long lance, with which we charge at the opponents). The clashes with the latter were carried out in the form of duels, and the key to success are good reflexes and the discovery of their weak points.
Technical aspects
Gryphon Knight Epic presents itself nicely and offers aesthetical two-dimensional visuals. The game's fairy tale style, which effectively masks the deficiencies of pixel art, makes sure of thet. The whole thing is complemented by an atmospheric soundtrack that evokes associations with classic, 16-bit titles.
