Ground Zero: Genesis of a New World

Ground Zero: Genesis of a New World is a proposal of German developer company, Comport Interactive, prepared with strategy game and RPG fans in mind. The atmosphere similar to the excellent Fallout series, the Ground Zero action was set in post-apocalyptic realities. Unclear information about the past shows that some armed conflict has turned into a large-scale struggle, probably followed by the detonation of a nuclear warhead. The world we know has ceased to exist. Humanity has returned to the Stone Age, cities have been razed to the surface of the earth, and our planet has become one great desert. Only a few survived the cataclysm.

These are the few who try to find similar oneself and try to survive together and rebuild a once blooming civilisation. Unfortunately, it is not that simple. Food and water are scarce goods and many people do not hesitate to use physical strength to get them. In order to survive in these difficult conditions and to defend themselves from the gangs of criminals, people come together in larger communities (known from the Mad Max series of films), just like a town whose coordinates are broadcast on the radio.

In Ground Zero the player plays the role of the leader of such a city. Our task is to create a group of people who will take control of the world and lead to its reconstruction. We have 20 different locations in front of us, which should be conquered and then protected against the temptations of bandits (industrial zones, cities, military camps). We can choose our character from one of three professions: mercenary, technician or doctor. Each of them has some special skills that help us to carry out our mission. A mercenary can use any kind of weapon, a technician can build various useful items, such as rat traps, water pumps and even a radio, out of things found during the game, while a doctor is responsible for the health and condition of the whole group. Your character's skills can be developed through in-game experience points.

The creators of the game prepared for us quite a large arsenal of weapons, armour, equipment, building materials and types of food, in total more than 250 different objects. During the next missions we meet different characters with whom we can trade, talk to or even hire to our branch. Careful attention should also be paid to the surroundings. Ruins, wrecks or abandoned houses can conceal valuable things. Unfortunately, sometimes they may turn out to be a trap and then we will not avoid fighting. The state of our possessions can also be supplemented thanks to attacks on merchant caravans, hermits or mutants.

The game was created using three-dimensional graphics. During the game we can see such effects as dynamic shading and lighting, as well as realistic changes in the times of the day and changing weather conditions.
