A cozy action adventure game with RPG and roguelike elements. In Grimoire Groves we end up in the titular magical grove, playing as a young witch named Primrose. The game offers an original combat system, forcing us to use a watering can on enemies with the help of specific spells and elemental powers.
Grimoire Groves is an action-adventure game with RPG and roguelike elements. It was developed by the Swiss studio Stardust.
Story
Grimoire Groves takes us to the titular grove that is home to both magical creatures and plants, as well as witches. When the main heroine, the young witch Primrose, arrives here, it turns out that this place has lost its former glow. Most of the forest spirits and creatures living in it have disappeared.
The protagonist decides to do everything in her power to restore his former glory and our hope is that she succeeds. Somewhat incidentally, she will discover the most mysterious object in the world's history, namely the legendary Rainbow Socks.
Gameplay
In Grimoire Groves we watch the action from a bird's eye view.
Work in the grove
During the gameplay, we explore the titular grove, getting to know the characters and creatures that inhabit it. Working towards restoring it to its original state involves the need to do quests, discover spells based on the four elements, collect fruits, search for forest spirits, as well as cultivate plant creatures. Our protagonist also has her home here and the decorations she uses provide it with various upgrades.
Agricultural struggle
The game offers an unusual "combat" system, combined with agricultural elements. During confrontations with forest creatures, Primrose uses a magical watering can to cast spells, thereby somewhat "watering" the opponents with the energy of her spells.
On the way, we encounter both smaller and weaker creatures (though attacking in groups), as well as larger ones, characterized by greater resistance to attacks. The spells we "feed" them with are related to the four elements, and the matter is complicated by the fact that individual creatures are only susceptible to the action of specific types of spells. If we treat them with the wrong kind of magic, they can hurt or even kill us (forcing us to start the journey from the beginning).
Graphics
The graphic design of Grimoire Groves is maintained in a cartoon style.
