GOODBYE WORLD is an independent, pixel art adventure platformer by Isolation Studio, published by Flyhigh Works.
Plot
The game stars two friends, both knowing each other since college. The first one, a young programmer Kanii, visits her professor due to dissatisfaction with the artstyle of the game she's developing. There, she meets Kumade - an art and design student - who expresses interest in her project. Kanii takes a liking to her work and has her take over the project's art design.
Years go by. Neither of the protagonists finds a full-time job, dreaming of making a living off creating games. Unfortunately, they experience a painful reality check. Their projects are unprofitable, while the girls waste time on part-time jobs. Kanii's also been going through a creative crisis for two years by now. Time flies, and their savings slowly run dry.
Mechanics
GOODBYE WORLD is a cross between an adventure game and a platformer. Most of the game consists of following the linear story about the two girls, divided into thirteen chapters.
Gameplay is mostly talking and mini-game representing their hard work. As the story progresses, so does the girls' dream project, divided into twelve stages.
Technical aspects
The game features anime-inspired 2D pixelart. The mini-games are sidescrollers. The atmospheric soundtrack was composed by the Japanese musician OLDUCT.
