God Save Birmingham is a survival action game that takes us to an alternative version of medieval England. The game was developed by the independent team Ocean Drive Studio, whose portfolio includes Lost Eidolons.

Plot

The action of God Save Birmingham is set in 14th century Birmingham. When a mysterious plague broke out in the area, turning people into living corpses, this once thriving trading city became a shadow of its former self. During the game we play as the only survivor, and our task is... simply to survive.

Gameplay

In God Save Birmingham events are viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). The game features an open world covering the titular city, and the most important element of the gameplay is the fight for survival. While exploring Birmingham, we need to look for food and water to satisfy the basic needs of our character, as well as for safe places that will allow us to catch our breath.

We also need to loot abandoned houses, workshops, shops or churches and look for useful resources, tools, clothing items (including armors) and weapons. We need to arm ourselves to fight the undead. While it is recommended to kill single zombies, when a whole horde stands in our way, it is better to avoid them, and in case of detection – to save ourselves by running away. Zombies are not the smartest, so when running away, it's worth jumping over fences (the chasing corpses will trip over them) or block passages with the help of furniture and other heavy objects.
