Gloomhaven

Gloomhaven is an adaptation of a board game in which we control a group of adventurers exploring a fantasy world based on the dark medieval times. The player fights dangerous enemies, collects items and unlocks new abilities of his characters. The game was created by Iscaac Childres - it was financed with money collected during two crowdfunding campaigns (4.4 million dollars were collected at the time). Developers from Flaming Fowl Studios and Asmodee Digital are responsible for creating the digital version of the game.

Mechanics

Original Gloomhaven is a game inspired by vidego RPGs, so it's no wonder that the conversion is so well suited for computer screens. The game developed by Flaming Fowl Studios is an RPG game with roguelike elements. The player builds his own team, choosing from a wide range of classes (including unusual classes such as golem) and abilities, and then explores randomly generated dungeons, full of monsters and treasures. The turn-based combat gives players full control over the actions of all of their characters.

Game modes

Gloomhaven offers the single player mode only.

Technical aspects

Gloomhaven features very appealing visuals. Divided into hexagons, the game board is shown in three dimensions and is full of details. Character models also look great. Thanks to the use of an unusual artistic style, the whole thing evokes associations with animated movies or illustrations from role-playing game textbooks.
