Glitchpunk is a cyberpunk action game inspired by Grand Theft Auto 2 and Hotline Miami. The game was developed by independent Polish studio Dark Lord, and was published by Daedalic Entertainment.

Plot

Glitchpunk takes us on a journey to a dystopian, cyberpunk world. After After the nuclear war there was a giant leap in technology, resulting in the rise to power of large corporations, increasing robotisation and a gigantic increase in crime.

In the game we play as an android, whose software is glitched. The bug allows the protagonist to oppose the directives written in her digital mind. The heroine decides to fight against the tyrannical government, which requires her to visit four cities, make many acquaintances and perform various tasks, but above all - to sow chaos wherever she appears.

The game doesn't run away from issues such as transhumanism, religion and xenophobia. The story has several endings, and which one we see is determined by our choices.

Mechanics

In Glitchpunk, the action is shown from a top-down view. There are four huge metropolises to visit, including both a desert city in North America and a Soviet agglomeration hit by a nuclear winter. We move through the streets on foot or behind the wheel of various vehicles and machines, including cars, motorbikes and buses, but from time to time we have to steer more sophisticated means of transport, such as trains or tanks. The game is driven by quests that push the story forward, along with various side missions. Most often we cooperate with different gangs, there are twelve of them; each of them has its own culture and history.

While completing missions, we often take part in shootouts and chases. This is important because our actions do not evade the attention of law enforcement, and if we do not quickly disappear, with time our pursuit level will begin to grow (up to ten), and with it - their fierceness and caliber of the guns deployed against us. As you progress, we gain money to buy various upgrades for the heroine, as well as acquire a new arsenal, which includes all sorts of rifles, cold weapons and killing tools such as rocket launchers and flamethrowers.

Technical aspects

Glitchpunk features colourful graphics maintained in a flashy yet gloomy style. In vehicles and machines we can listen to various radio stations - from those that play music, to news channels, to stations that only offer absurd advertisements.
