[1:40] Gene Rain trailer #1
PS4Blog.net: 4 / 10
In the end, it's really hard for me to recommend Deeli Network's game, especially at that price. It's got its share of basic QA issues (non-working controls were the worst) that can't be ignored, and it has an OK storyline and combat system. If your time with Gene Rain feels different from my experience, be sure to let us know in the comments below!
WellPlayed: 2.5 / 10 by Zach Jackson
Gene Rain is a classic combination of generic game design and poor production that should be avoided at all costs
Worth Playing: 2 / 10 by Cody Medellin
It's difficult to recommend Gene Rain to anyone. The story makes no sense, and the game does a good job of maintaining that sense of confusion. The gameplay has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and the presentation would be laughable even during the prior console generation. Not even Trophy hunters would be attracted to this title because the grind to obtain them is unbearable. Stay as far away as possible from Gene Rain.
Gene Rain Description
Gene Rain is a shooter with RPG elements developed by an independent Chinese studio Deeli network. Developers present a gloomy vision of the future, in which the attempt to improve the situation in the world ended with a global catastrophe.
Story
The story told in Gene Rain begins in 2089, when Dr. Bill Feynman invented a substance that speeds up the evolutionary process and modifies the genotype in a way that equalizes the intelligence of all people. In order to take civilization to a new level as soon as possible, the scientist built special installations called "wind towers", whose task was to spread the chemical all over the world. When the title mixture (rain combined with this mysterious substance) fell to the ground, things got out of control; it caused the death of almost two billion people, and in many others – unexpected mutations. All this caused the world to plunge into chaos for twenty years.
At this point, the action is entered by a player taking control of the heroes trying to solve the crisis. We are talking about Alex (half-man, half-work), Salman (humanoid machine) and Li Ying battled. Their overriding goal is to destroy the still operating installations and stop Feynman.
Mechanics
The pillar of Gene Rain is a single player fiction campaign. In the course of the struggle we observe the action from the third person's perspective (TPP), taking part in missions both in the destroyed cities and in the open air (we visit, among others, huge canyons). The game consists in elimination of hordes of enemies, whose leaves are dominated by overgrown robots; we can hide behind the shields from fire, following the example of the genre's big names (with the Gears of War series at the forefront). The authors give us nine types of firearms. We increase the combat potential of the protagonists by improving some of the enemies as well as developing the attributes of each of them.
Technical aspects
Gene Rain three-dimensional graphics are on average; their quality is similar to that of games released on seventh generation desktop consoles.
