The remastered version of a 1995 action platformer. Gargoyles Remastered has us playing as Goliath, a gargoyle on a quest to destroy a corrupted amulet, the Eye of Odin. The game features refreshed visuals, audio and new functionality.
Gargoyles Remastered is a remastered version of a 1995 action platformer, based on the animated series of the same name. It was co-developed by Empty Clip Studios and Disney.
Plot
The protagonist of Gargoyles Remastered is Goliath, a gargoyle. He must defeat the villainous Demona and take the Eye of Odin from her - a corrupted magical amulet that could doom the world in wrong hands.
Mechanics
Gargoyles Remastered is a side-scroller. The player must move to the right, traversing various locations, including the ancient Wyvern Castle, modern Manhattan skyscrapers and the New York subway. We'll jump on platforms, avoid obstacles, traps and face down enemies.
Goliath's primary weapons are his fists and claws; his wings, meanwhile let him attack from the air. Wings and claws come in handy while exploring too; the former let him glide and jump further, while the latter - climb walls and ceilings.
Though mechanically the game remains unchanged, the remastered version also includes a rewind feature, letting players undo their actions at any time.
Technical aspects
Gargoyles Remastered features thoroughly refreshed visuals. The developers have created much more detailed sprites, locations and new animations. There are also new sound effects and a new version of the original soundtrack.
The player can switch between the original and remastered graphics at any time, as well as between three versions of the soundtrack.

Truly, this is one for the fans. It’s a remaster for people who have fond memories of renting it for the Genesis back in the day. Fans of the cartoon might also find some value in it, as much as it tends to be an unfaithful adaptation. For everyone else, there are a lot of other games you can play before you need to reach the depths of Gargoyles. It’s not terrible, it just isn’t good. But at least it hasn’t been left sleeping for one thousand years.
Siliconera: 6 / 10 by Arielle Haddad
Gargoyles Remastered exists for fans of the animated show or people who played this game before, but doesn't really have much else to offer.
TheSixthAxis: 4 / 10 by Steve C
Gargoyles Remastered is a disappointing time. Fans of the original will delight in getting to play it on a modern system and the quick rewind helps to alleviate some of the more egregious design choices, but it also highlights how barebones this remaster really is. The rough and ready feel isn't helped by modern visuals that look aesthetically worse and seem to add extra lag and imprecision to the controls. This is one oldie that perhaps should have been left to sleep in stony isolation.
