F-15 Strike Eagle II Description
The second episode of the F-15 aircraft simulator cycle, launched in 1985 by Sida Meier and MicroProse. This time, one of the most famous video game designers shared his function with Andy Hollis, who later took over the production of the third installment of the series on his own.
F-15 Strike Eagle II presents an arcade approach to the simulation of one of the most popular fighters created by Americans. Despite some efforts to achieve a realistic flight model, the game is intended for less demanding fans of the genre. Simplified control and no possibility to interfere with the aircraft's weaponry make the MicroProse product not as complicated as the enthusiasts of other programs created by this legendary company would like to see.
In the game there is a career mode, in which pilots gain points and medals depending on the number of destroyed objects and planes of the enemy. Almost every mission requires the elimination of the primary and secondary objectives - depending on the level of difficulty chosen at the beginning, it may also be necessary to return to the base after the mission has been completed. There are four sets of scenarios taking place in different parts of the world: Libya, the Gulf, Vietnam and the Middle East. The cockpit of the pilot is made very modestly - on-board instruments are limited to a map of the nearest area, radar and display, in which all targets targeted by the player are shown.
F-15 Strike Eagle II offers a simple low resolution visuals - from 4 to 256 colors depending on the mode used. All objects in the game and the terrain have been prepared using vector graphics. The program allows you to watch the action using several cameras, including those located outside the plane.
