F-29 Retaliator PC

F-29 Retaliator is a flight simulator created in 1991 by Digital Image Design for Ocean. The player will play the role of the pilot of two experimental machines: Lockheed F-22 Advanced Tactical Fighter and Grunman F-29.

Today we know very well what the F-22 looks like, but at the time when Digital Image Design was working on this production, nothing was known about the American Air Force aircraft - hence its futuristic and different from the real look. Slightly better situation was with the X-29, which was already shown at that time, so that programmers and graphic designers did not have to speculate about its capabilities and appearance.

The game is divided into four parts. In the first of them we will carry out a series of training missions to familiarize us with the capabilities of both planes and their control in the air. In this phase of the game we fly over the area of the base of experimental planes, located in Arizona. The second scenario takes us to the Pacific, where as many as 27 combat missions await us, in which we will usually destroy various targets - not only airborne, but also ground ones. The last campaign will take place in the Middle East, where a large number of missions are also available - as many as 26. In the final we will face our opponents in Europe. Here the authors passed by themselves and served as many as 41 combat tasks to the hungry pilots. All in all, it gives more than a hundred missions, which are not very different from each other, but certainly exploit the possibilities of gameplay to the limits of possibilities.

The F-29 Retaliator resembles more traditional shooting than a full-blooded flight simulator. Yes, there are many factors to take care of during air acrobatics, but you can still get the impression that it is the skilful massacre of troops and enemy objects that matters the most. In addition, the balls of realism: the planes are very manoeuvrable and are driven extremely smoothly, on the other hand, you can have problems with making even the simplest figures.

The visual setting is based on vector graphics and it is difficult to be admired here. On the other hand, you will notice a clear cockpit and a whole lot of static pictures, which you will see in the interval between missions. F-29 Retaliator - although far from the classic and murderously difficult representatives of the genre - turns out to be a good proposition for fans of air shootings, who prefer a quick action over the complicated service of the plane and the realism of its behavior in the air. An additional advantage of the program is the possibility of playing in two people.
