August 18, 2001
An official expansion to Shogun: Total War, a game developed by Creative Assembly in 2000. The expansion pack called The Mongol Invasion takes us about 300 years before the action from the base title – this is the 13th century and the Land of the Rising Sun faces a Mongol-Korean invasion led by the legendary ruler Kublai Khan. The expansion introduces three new campaigns in which you can play as either Japanese or Mongols. Gameplay offers completely new types of units, such as Korean Skirmishers and Thunder-bombers throwing primitive explosives. Enemies have their AI improved, so players need to display considerable tactical skills in order to survive, even on the lowest difficulty level.
