City 20 Description
City 20 is a simulator of living in a post-apocalyptic city. The game was developed by the Italian studio Untold Games. The gameplay focuses on the struggle for survival and building relationships with other survivors in a world that dynamically adapts to our preferred methods of action. The game draws inspiration from such science fiction movies as Stalker and the short film Pilar.
Plot
The titular City 20 is a secret one that the government quarantined due to a radioactive leak, only to ultimately abandon it. Years after the disaster, this place is still inhabited by people forced to fight for survival in the place forgotten by the rest of the world. In the game, we play as one of them.
Gameplay
City 20 is a survival sandbox in which we try to find our way in a dystopian reality. The game gives us great freedom in exploring the destroyed city and finding ways of achieving goals. We encounter many NPCs, as well as visit larger human settlements offering trade options and other features. Each of the residents has a specific role (they can be responsible for treatment, obtaining food, etc.), as well as needs or aspirations. Helping people who we encounter can improve relations with a given community, just as robbing or attacking them may cause us to lose access to many services. The interests of factions often mutually exclude each other.
The titular city is poor in resources, so we are forced to use all available means. We are gradually devastating City 20 more and more, including destroying the furniture in the buildings. We use the materials obtained in this way to craft items using the workbench, and thanks to the obtained schematics, we gain access to subsequent projects over time. To survive, we set traps for animals and grow plants. We carry resources in a backpack, attach the most important tools to the belt, and equip the hero with several layers of clothes.
During the game we take part in battles initiated by us or the bandits found in City 20. In the fights against them, we use fists or a wide range of weapons (including axes).
