Mars 2120 Description
Mars 2120 is an action platformer metroidvania. It was developed by QUByte Interactive, also known for 99Vidas and Adore. They were inspired by such games as Super Metroid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Guacamelee!.
Plot
Mars 2120 is set in the future, after humanity has started colonizing Mars. We play as Sergeant Anna Charlotte, traversing the first human outpost on the Red Planet. She finds the place to be much more dangerous than expected, forcing her to seek and learn its secrets.
Mechanics
Mars 2120 is a side-scroller. The game is set in various areas, most of them being buildings constructed by colonists from Earth. The player must jump on platforms, avoid obstacles, traps and face down enemies.
Combat is fast-paced, letting us wield melee weapons, ranged weapons and elemental powers - ice, fire and electricity. To succeed, we must keep moving and chain our attacks into deadly combos. Charlotte will face off against robots, horrible monsters and powerful bosses.
As we progress through the game, she becomes more powerful and gains new abilities that let her reach previously inaccessible areas.
Technical aspects
Mars 2120 runs on the Unreal Engine. The game features colorful, appealing 2.5D visuals.
