Dungeons of Hinterberg is an action adventure game with RPG elements. It was developed by Microbird Games and published by Curve Games.
Dungeons of Hinterberg is set in an alternate version of the Austrian Alps, specifically in the titular, fictional village of Hinterberg at their foothills. The main protagonist is Luiza, a trainee lawyer suffering from burnout, taking a breather from corporate chaos among the mountains. She's about to experience unforgettable adventures, as Hinterberg is home to numerous, amazing secrets.
Dungeons of Hinterberg is a third-person game (TPP). The player must traverse the Alps; Luiza can not only travel on foot, but also climb obstacles, use a snowboard or ziplines.
While exploring the beautiful overworld and the mysterious dungeons she faces monsters and solves numerous puzzles. In combat, she wields a sword alongside magic. Overtime she learns new spells, thus being able to face greater challenges. Puzzles require manipulating the environment and need to be solved to open the way forward.
During downtime from exploring Hinterberg's surroundings and learning its secrets, the girl can rest in the village, meet its inhabitants and other adventurers. Some of them can teach her new tricks to use during her next adventures.
Dungeons of Hinterberg makes use of a colorful, cartoonish artstyle.

Game Ratings for Dungeons of Hinterberg Video Game.
Screen Rant: 4 / 5 by Leo Faierman
Screenshots of the game may immediately summon games like Zelda vibes, but they wouldn’t be exactly accurate, and the wider regions of Dungeons of Hinterberg aren’t packed with secrets and interactive details; it’s almost a dialogue-oriented Zelda-lite sort of experience. Call it “cozy Zelda,” call it “Zelda Crossing,” call it “Persona of the Wild” if needed, it’s really just a charming blend of all these notions, and certain standout dungeons on their own are worth chartering a flight to Dungeons of Hinterberg.
Digital Trends: 4.5 / 5 by Giovanni Colantonio
Dungeons of Hinterberg is a razor-sharp debut from developer Microbird that tackles the complexities of the tourism industry from every angle. From its impact on politics to how it backs local businesses into a corner, the action-adventure game delivers a nuanced dissection of a quiet town turned global attraction. And like any good tourist trap, it hooks players in with wondrous entertainment, from ingeniously designed dungeon puzzles to magical powers that turn its natural landscapes into amusement parks. It may not be the slickest action game, but it contains one of 2024’s most vital stories.

There’s a lot to enjoy in Dungeons of Hinterberg. The premise is original and the combat ticks all the expected ARPG elements. Like in real life, I’m not fond of forced social interaction, and sometimes the game is a bit more gated than it appears. The puzzles are satisfying, and while movement and spell-casting can be janky, there’s quite a bit of content to explore. Fans of family-friendly ARPGs and the blend of magic and everyday life should definitely plan a staycation in Hinterberg.
