Cataclismo

Cataclismo is a combination of an RTS and a tower defense game. It was developed by Digital Sun Games, also responsible for Moonlighter and The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story; its publisher is Humble Games.

Plot

Cataclismo is set in a grim fantasy world. Its residents once lived happy, abundant lives thanks to heavenly gifts known as Perlas. Their idyllic existence came to an end due to an ominous Mist, which shrouded the land and gave rise to monstrous creatures. The survivors hid away in the last human city, which is soon targeted by the monstrosities as well. All is not yet lost, however, as they still have one last Perla held in the body of a young researcher named Iris. Before the survivors can set out to the forgotten kingdom's ruins and reclaim their lost world, they must first fight for their lives.

Mechanics

Cataclismo makes use of the top-down perspective. During the day we manage the city, acquire resources from abandoned mineral deposits and battered chests, erect walls and towers, build combat machines, traps and recruit soldiers. All this is done to prepare for the night, when monsters emerge from the Mist, only stopped by our defenses. The thicker our walls, the more traps, guns and cannons we have, the better our chances of survival. If we fail and our defenses our breached, we can turn back time as a last resort to give our people one last chance of survival.

Game modes

In addition to the story campaign, Cataclismo also features a sandbox mode, in which we can freely build castles without need to worry over the Mist monsters.
