Magical Delicacy is a combination of a platformer and an adventure game with metroidvania elements. It was developed by the independent studio Skaule and published by Whitethorn Games.

Plot

Magical Delicacy takes place in a fantasy world - in a harbor town of Grat, hosting many adventurers drawn to explore a mysterious island. The game's main protagonist - a young witch named Flora - arrives there as well, dreaming of becoming a true sorceress. Once in town, she encounters two members of opposing covens, a witch named Cassia and a magus named Tauno. While they can teach her many useful things, she must be careful not to let them drag her into their conflict or use her for their personal goals.

Mechanics

Magical Delicacy is a side-scroller. The player can freely roam the town of Grat, meet its residents and establish relationships with them. The most important part of the game is running a store.

Flora can create magical dishes and potions, strictly following recipes or improvising. She can find ingredients by exploring the city or visiting local traders; some merchants or other craftsmen, however, are only available at specific times of day or at night. Flora can sell her creations at her store or deliver them directly to customers, who can also place special orders and request specific items.

Money earned can be spent on expanding the store and purchasing new equipment. As the protagonist's business grows, so do her possibilities. Flora learns the art of magic, gaining the ability to create more advanced meals and potions as well as upgrading her exploration skills. These let her reach previously inaccessible areas, unlock new routes and shortcuts.
