God is a Geek: 8 / 10 by Chris White
Men of War II is a deeply strategic and intense title that makes every decision, whether big or small, mean something.
Shacknews: 8 / 10 by Josh Broadwell
Frustrations aside, Men of War 2 is a fresh and ambitious take on a genre that's usually comfortable staying the same. I wish I had more time to sink into its massive multiplayer matches, but even when I don't, I'm still pleased with how strong the single-player experience is. Sure, it doesn't require the same level of strategy as taking on a human opponent, but Men of War 2's inventive mechanics keep you on your toes anyway.
MonsterVine: 3.5 / 5 by Shannon P. Drake
A decent-to-good WW2 RTS with a puzzling always online requirement

- Graphics and Performance: Some players appreciated the graphics and noted that the game runs smoothly compared to its predecessors.
- Variety of Game Modes: The game offers multiple modes, including PVE and PVP, which many players found enjoyable.

The main cons of the game

- User Interface Issues: The UI was criticized for being confusing and not user-friendly, making it difficult to manage units and understand game mechanics.
- Pathfinding Problems: Users reported ongoing issues with pathfinding, particularly with infantry and vehicles.
- Voice Acting: Many players found the voice acting to be poor and sometimes cringe-worthy, particularly in the American units.
- Always Online Requirement: Initially, the game required an internet connection, which frustrated players until this was changed to an optional feature.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Direct Control for Infantry: Players expressed disappointment that direct control in first or third person is only available for vehicles, not infantry.
- Splittable Infantry Squads: Users missed the ability to split infantry squads, a feature present in earlier titles.
- Realistic Damage Mechanics: Some players felt the damage model for tanks was simplified and less realistic than in previous games, leading to frustration with gameplay dynamics.
- Additional Factions: There were complaints regarding the limited number of playable factions, with players wanting more diversity like in previous installments.
- Better Tutorials and Explanations: Users mentioned that the game lacks thorough tutorials or explanations for new mechanics, leading to confusion for new players.
Summary
- Overall, while Men of War II has its strengths, particularly in AI and dynamic gameplay, it also faces criticism regarding its departure from the series' traditional mechanics and user experience.

Men of War II Description
Men of War II is the second installment in a series of WWII RTS games, originating from 2007. It was developed by Best Way (also responsible for Soldiers: Heroes of World War II and the expansions to the first game) and published by 1C Entertainment.
Plot
Men of War II is set during World War II. The game features two extensive story campaigns. The first one has us playing as the Allies on the western front, while the latter has us playing as the Red Army, fighting the Third Reich on the eastern front.
Mechanics
Men of War II makes use of the top-down perspective. Players will get to command infantry, vehicles and aircraft. The game features 45 battalions and over 300 different war machines. Each unit has a different specialization, strengths and weaknesses, which we must make good use of to succeed.
The battlefields are all very diverse, including snowy Russian hills, European villages and ruined cities. To succeed, we must develop separate strategies for every battle. We must consider our army's numbers and capabilities, the terrain, buildings, the presence of bridges, rivers and forests (where we can prepare ambushes). Every in-game building is destructible. This can deprive our foes of cover, but they can bury our troops under rubble at any time as well.
The game's AI has been significantly improved since its predecessor. It also features the Front Line, which divides the battlefield into two parts. Its position and course is determined by the actions of the infantry, and is very important, as some operations can only be performed on our side. There's also Direct Vision, which lets us directly control a selected unit in third-person or first-person. We can take part in firefights or drive a tank through the battlefield.
Game modes
Alongside its two singleplayer campaigns, Men of War II also features quick skirmishes and an expansive multiplayer, both cooperative and competitive. It also includes various modding tools and a level editor.
Technical aspects
Men of War II features high-quality visuals. The spectacular explosions and realistic destructible environments are especially appealing. All units were designed with lots of attention to detail. The game's audio is just as impressive.
