The Outer Worlds 2

The Outer Worlds 2 is the sequel to the warmly received 2019 RPG. The development of the sequel was handled by Obsidian Entertainment studio, which also delivered the first part of the series, as well as such titles as Fallout: New Vegas and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords.

Story

The Outer Worlds 2 takes us to a retrofuturistic science fiction universe created for the needs of the previous game. This time the action does not take place in the Halcyon system known from the first game. Instead we end up in Utopia, which is the homeland of the jump drive. We are sent there on the orders of the Earth Directorate, and our task is to investigate the origin of the fissures threatening all of humanity.

The situation is complicated by the fact that this fragment of space is torn apart by a factional war. In addition to the Protectorate carrying the care for the welfare of citizens on its banners, corporations and a religious organization also participate in it. Our further fate, the result of that conflict, as well as the future of Utopia (and consequently - all of mankind), are shaped by our actions and choices made by us.

Although all this sounds very serious, and indeed it is, the game does not lack the specific humor that is one of the elements that distinguishes the first installment of the series.

Gameplay

In The Outer Worlds 2 we view the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). We complete quests that push the plot forward along with side missions, ending up in various corners of the Utopia system. As we explore them, we get to know their inhabitants, fight the enemies we encounter, and make decisions that influence the further course of the story and its ending.

Although there is nothing to prevent us from exploring the colony on our own, along the way we encounter characters who can join us. Each of them has their own personality, goals and ambitions, and it is up to us how well we get to know them and how we treat them.

Problems encountered along the way can be solved in a number of ways. Although deceit and diplomacy can be effective, they can also fail. In such situations, we have no choice but to reach for a weapon. We eliminate enemies by using melee weapons and ranged weapons, engaging in open, dynamic skirmishes or acting quietly.

On our way, we encounter both hostile people and aggressive fauna inhabiting the locations we visit. As we progress, we develop our character, unlocking and improving their skills according to our own needs and preferences.
