Shortest Trip to Earth Description
Shortest Trip to Earth is a combination of a spacecraft simulator and a roguelike game. Players' goal is to explore the procedurally generated universe on board of a self-modified ship. The game was developed by Interactive Fate studio and released by Iceberg Interactive.
Mechanics
Shortest Trip to Earth allows players to take control of their own spaceship. Players have a variety of different units at their disposal, which can be further modified with modular elements. It is also necessary to recruit new units and take care of the crew.
During the game, players explore the procedurally generated universe divided into a number of smaller sectors. It is filled with all kinds of aliens, sometimes with giving us tasks to complete, and sometimes with hostile intentions. Real time tactical battles are shown from the side perspective, as in FTL, and take place not only between ships, but also on board ships. In Shortest Trip to Earth features the permadeath mechanics. After losing a battle, the game ends and the players has to start over again. Each defeat, however, gives bonuses that make it easier for one to play.
Technical aspects
Shortest Trip to Earth offers simple, two-dimensional visuals in a cartoon-like style.
