Ostranauts is a space simulator from Blue Bottle Games studio. In this production the player has a lot to do with the captain of the spacecraft, whose task is to manage it and satisfy the needs of the crew subordinate to it.
Ostranauts is a combination of a space simulator and strategy game. The player takes up a position of a spacecraft captain, whose task is to supervise every aspect of its activity. Blue Bottle Games is responsible for the development and release of the game.
Plot
In the setting of Ostranauts, the Earth was destroyed by supernatural beings. The surviving humanity is scattered throughout the Solar System.
The player takes on the role of captain of one of the interstellar ships. Their task is to take care of the smooth functioning of the ship and maintain the morale of the crew.
Mechanics
In Ostranauts the player's task is to manage their own spacecraft. But before that, the player has to choose the captain's career history. Based on that information, a specific ship is assigned, for which we will be responsible.
It is up to the player to expand the ship. We receive a number of modular objects that he can place freely. They show certain dependencies so that the functioning of certain elements is closely linked. Additionally, each element wears out over time, which forces us to take care of the efficiency of the ship.
Of course, in addition to the captain, there is also the crew on board. It has a number of different types of needs that need to be met. Their range is quite large - from the most basic ones like food or drinks to more complex like safety and privacy.
Technical aspects
Ostranauts features very simple visuals. The whole thing adopts a two-dimensional, cartoonish style, and the action is shown from a bird's eye view.
